Transition

Transition is tough. It's hard to be almost two and then have your mom bring home a new baby. I know this because my little boy has been struggling with this for the past month. He's been on a hunger strike, a nap strike and a bedtime strike. Not since he was a newborn has he woken at 9pm, midnight, 2am, and then 5am refusing to go back to bed.

There are still many moments of sweetness. Here he is,unprompted, trying to comfort his sister by rocking the car seat and telling her, "Laila no sad. Daddy happy, Daisy happy, Mommy happy, Reid happy, Tree happy, Sky happy." I'm hoping that time and sleep will bring us more moments like these.

After a nap last week he cried for a long time. Finally, I took him for a walk to see the trains.

Never before had he bothered to touch the vase in our hallway, I turned to take laundry out of his hamper and smash! He was very upset and through his tears kept saying, "Mommy fix. Mommy fix." I was just relieved that he wasn't hurt by the cheap Ikea glass.
