Before we can have a brand new kitchen we need to live without a stove and water for a while. We wash dishes on the third floor, eat lots of canned soup and bake food at Shayne's house. It's been two weeks of demolition and reinforcing the structure. The time consuming part has been removing all of the brick in the fireplace and the chimney above it. Here you can see that the wall
separating the dining room from the kitchen has been torn down and the cabinets gone. The bricks are what is left of the chimney, the dummy wall is where the new island will be. The progress is very exciting and the short term pain is totally worth the long term gain!
